The Beautiful Landscape and Wildlife of Oman that I hope to photograph soon

When one thinks of Oman, images of beautiful architecture, modern and traditional, great cities etc come to mind. However, I have been interested in the natural landscape and wildlife of Oman, which is equally mesmerising, but often not well known.

I don’t know when I will be able to travel through the beautiful Sultanate of Oman, but I often dream of visiting its majestic deserts, shooting a beautiful night sky in the clear desert skies, morning light over the beautiful Al Hajar Mountains, the turquoise seas, the sight of sandgrouse quenching their thirst at an oasis… Oman is a land of exceptional natural beauty.

I would love to be able to see and photograph the Arabian Leopard, the Hydrax, the Dugongs, Pygmy Gerbils, White Tailed Mongoose, Golden Jackals, Nubian Ibex, Arabian Tahr, amongst others.

I hope my dreams of experiencing this wonderful world are soon fulfilled via the Oman Tourism Board, and I am able to fill these blank frames…

Oman has a fairly large number of raptors, like this Greater Spotted Eagle, Aquila clanga. Some of them are winter visitors, making winters a good time for a visit.

Chesnut Bellied Sandgrouse (Pterocles exustus) flock at a watering hole.

The beautiful Arabian Partridge, Alectoris melanocephala, is in the IUCN Red List of threatened species. I would be extremely lucky to get such a good sighting.
