Ahmednagar Roadtrip

Ahmednagar is not a city we would have visited but for a close relative we had to visit. Driving down seemed to be the best option, and we chose a path suggested by the family. Interestingly, this journey turned to be a beautiful one. We drove via Mumbai – Pune Expressway and turned left towards Chakan after the second toll-booth. Then onwards via Chakan – Shikrapur – Shirur – Ahmednagar. It’s a fairly simple route, and the stretch through Chakan is extremely painful. But once you cross it, the next stretch is beautiful, with long gently winding smooth road and vast open fields on either side. Worth a trip.

We had permissions to visit a windmill farm thanks to some work. This temple at the end of the farm was calm and peaceful.

Driving through the wind-mill farm, one can almost feel the vibrations caused by these giant rotors.

The clouds get darker. One can see it pouring somewhere near the horizon.
The monsoons were rather late that year. On the way back, it started to pour.
